Keeping families informed after surgeries in Regina Qu’Appelle

Two phone calls make a world of difference to families of admitted surgical patients at Pasqua Hospital in Regina.

Families now get the first call once their loved one is in Recovery; the second when he or she has been moved to the surgical unit.

I really appreciated getting a phone call once Martin was on the unit. I could let the family know where he was and I knew his recovery was progressing. It’s re-assuring to know that somebody is looking out for you.” – Paulette Malach, family member

This change in practice has helped alleviate families’ concerns about their relative’s whereabouts and improved communication amongst departments. Families also receive a handout that contains useful hospital, parking and accommodation information.
